Beenal Rajyaguru studied pharmacy at ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ and registered as a Pharmacist in 2007. Beenal worked as a Healthcare Assistant with Boots Pharmacy during her undergraduate training. She worked as a Community Pharmacist across several pharmacy stores before moving to an On Call Pharmacist role at the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust. She specialized as a Paediatric Pharmacist in 2010, and completed her post graduate prescribing training specializing in children's allergies and immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis. She has also developed the competency and revalidation assessments for all pharmacists working at UHL NHS Trust. Beenal is now working at ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ within the Leicester School of Pharmacy as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy.
Beenal is currently the lead academic for children's pharmacy within the MPharm programme and has introduced new topics into the MPharm curriculum developing teaching on medicines optimization in children and also on allergy and anaphylaxis, using simulation and active learning and teaching models. She has also held leadership responsibilities within the School including Head of Year for Level 5 MPharm Students and Module Leader for the Professional Portfolio module for Level 5 students. She also teaches on the Care of the Critically Ill Child postgraduate nursing programmes.
Beenal has a keen interest in researching the use of medicines in primary school children collaborating with LLR colleagues with the aim of improving the education and training of school staff on medicines use in children across Leicestershire and Rutland. She is also the Chair of the Local Advisory Board of a primary school in Leicestershire.
