International Welcome Week
International Welcome Week will take place from Monday 15 to Friday 19 January, and runs alongside in-person registration appointments for international students.
It’s a great opportunity to settle into your new home before the start of your course, get advice on living and studying in the UK. It also gives you an opportunity to meet staff and other new students before you begin your studies.
The week will include:
- In-person information and advice on topics such as healthcare, opening a bank account, study skills and working in the UK.
- Tours of the campus and city of Leicester.
- Social events, including ten-pin bowling and other activities to help you meet other new students.
- The opportunity to book onto an optional day trip to Oxford on Friday 19 September
Sign up to get International Welcome Week updates as they’re announced.
Key information sessions will be recorded, so that students arriving afterwards can view the sessions later. We're also hoping to work with Faculty colleagues again to run in-person Orientation sessions for international students in Weeks 0, 1 and 2.
As in 2024, there will also be a separate early evening Welcome event for new international students, after the start of teaching in October.
Airport pickup service
We are running a free airport pickup service from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Monday 15 September (the first day of the International Welcome programme). The service will take students directly from the airport to the ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ campus.
Airport pickup is available for students with scheduled arrival times up to 3pm on Monday 15 September. Reserve a place by Monday 8 September.
Find out more and book a place on this service. There's also links to travel information (including public transport and taxi providers) if you're arriving on a different date.
Detailed information about arriving, living and studying at ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ is available in the International Student Guide.
Completing your ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ or ̽»¨ÏµÁÐIC registration

Registration is an in-person event so you must be in the UK to complete the process. Please read the following details carefully and ensure you follow all the instructions.
What you need to do before booking your appointment
You will need to complete online pre-registration – this enables the university to record the information about you which we need to create your registration record. This will include your term-time address (please note this must be within 40 miles of the ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ campus and be the genuine address that you will use during term time).
If you are starting a course at ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ, you must also pay at least 50% of your course fees to the university. If you are starting a foundation or pre-masters course at ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ International College (̽»¨ÏµÁÐIC) you must pay 100% of your fees before you can complete your registration.
Once you have completed the necessary steps above you will be sent an email to book your in-person appointment on campus.
What you need to do before attending your appointment
Once you have paid your fees and completed your online pre-registration, you will receive an invitation to book an appointment, by email, from the international registration team.
Instructions on what you will need to do and any documents that you need to bring with you to your appointment will be explained in the email. If you have a Student Visa/E-Visa, you will be required to create your online UKVI E-Visa account and provide your share code, prior to your appointment. We advise you to prepare this in advance of travelling to the UK to avoid any issues. During your appointment, we will confirm your immigration status using your share code. You will also need to provide evidence of your entry to the UK, such as your stamped entry clearance visa in your passport. If your passport has not been stamped, you will be asked to provide other evidence such as your boarding pass or proof of your flight to the UK.
Please ensure that you check your emails regularly (including spam folders). If we require further information from you or need to update you on the registration process, we will email you.
If you have paid your fees and have completed your online pre-registration but still haven’t received an invite, you can contact the international registration team at internationalregistration@dmu.ac.uk.
What you need to do at your appointment
Your registration appointment will be a face-to-face 10-minute slot.
Please arrive shortly before your appointment and ensure you have your passport, visa documents, and share code ready. During your appointment, we will check your identity and documents, then take copies of your documents.
