Student engineers from ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ Leicester (̽»¨ÏµÁÐ) have secured one of the team’s strongest results to date at the prestigious Formula Student 2025 competition, held at Silverstone from 16–20 July.
Competing in one of the most competitive fields to date, ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ Racing powered their way to an impressive 17th place overall and 13th among UK universities against more than 100 international teams. The results mark the team’s second-highest finish ever, showcasing once again the strength and determination of our student engineers.
Formula Student, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), challenges university teams to design, build, and race a single-seat formula-style car. It is widely regarded as Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition.
It hasn’t been an easy road. The team faced considerable technical challenges with both the electronics and air intake systems, which tested their limits in the run-up to the event. Long hours in the workshop, expert problem-solving, and genuine teamwork enabled them to prepare the car for the race, culminating in a successful completion of the demanding endurance event. A true mark of engineering excellence.
Key contributors to this year’s success included Team Leader James Bracha, Curtis Jeffery, Glenn Hodgkinson, and ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ’s dedicated Engineering Technicians, whose expertise and dedication helped bring this year’s car to life.
James Bracha said "̽»¨ÏµÁÐ Racing made a triumphant return to combustion, rebuilding from the ground up to place 17th overall at Formula Student 2025. This year was full of challenges right up until the end, which is testament to our resilience & determination as a team.”
After two quieter years, the team’s strong showing at Silverstone signals an exciting new chapter — and reinforces ̽»¨ÏµÁÐ’s growing reputation for hands-on, industry-ready engineering education.
